EPA rule's about Tire Derived Fuel and the future of Tire Recycling Industry

The EPA has until February 21 2011 to issue its final rule covering emissions from industrial boilers and solid waste incinerators.

Since they are drastically cheaper than new tires, many are now opting for these pre-owned versions for their automobiles.
Over 300 Million Used Tires are disposed of in the US every year
Not only are they being sold, but over 150 million used tires are also now being reused and burned each year for “tire derived fuels,” or TDF for short.
A great purpose using all the energy inside the tire to manufacture another product in most cases klinker for cement. Many people are arguing for other proposed options for the disposal of these tires, as burning them harms the environment.But the science appears to show the tires burn cleaner and hotter than coal which many industries use in their kilns.
Other recycled uses include doormats, roofing materials, playground equipment, and “crumbs” as an additive for asphalt, which extends the life of the pavement 4-5 years.
The purchase of a quality used tire is always a better alternative for the tire consumer than continuing to drive on their bald tires.
